Finale - The Passing of Norodom Sihanouk
Two days after his death in Beijing on 15 October 2012, the body of King Father Norodom Sihanouk returned to Cambodia.
Over a million people lined the streets to watch the procession that brought his casket to the Royal Palace.
On 23 October 2012 a huge Buddhist ceremony in front of the Royal Palace marked the first week of his return.
On 31 October 2012 construction began on the cremation pyre at the traditional site just north of the Royal Palace..
On 1 February 2013 his casket was transferred to the cremation site in a grand procession that reflected a tradition of over 100 years.
On the evening of 4 February 2013 his body was cremated accompanied by fireworks and a 101 gun salute.
The next day part of his remains were escorted to the confluence of the four rivers and scattered in the waters.
Two days later a final procession transferred the rest of the remains to the Royal Palace.
In the following month the cremation pyre was demolished according to tradition.
